WATERBURY—Business owners or future business owners interested in learning more about new grant opportunities in the Central Business District are invited to attend an informational session on Tuesday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Waterbury Regional Chamber, 83 Bank Street, 4th Floor. The grants are being administered by The Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Startup companies and small businesses independently owned and operated are eligible for grants of up to $25,000, though there are exceptions for heavy equipment and machinery grants of up to $100,000. This grant funding can be used for uses like new signage, furniture and fixtures, interior upgrades, marketing and advertising, business consulting services, limited payroll, and more. Central Business District property owners can also apply for grants of up to $75,000 through our façade program to assist with exterior building improvements that address the appearance and condition of commercial, retail, and mixed-use buildings in an effort to preserve the unique character of Waterbury’s historic downtown. With the cooperation of the building owner, tenants may also apply for up to $3,500 for the purchase and installation of an awning or canopy. Grant funds will be paid to reimburse expenses paid by the Grantee once proof of payment has been submitted. Purchases will require quotes and reimbursement will be made for the provider with the lowest cost. For program guidelines, visit www.waterburychamber.com/downtown
